Festival of National Cultures «We are all different, but we are together»

On April 28, 2023, for the first time, the Festival of National Cultures “We are all different, but we are together” was held at the Brest State Technical University, in which Belarusian and foreign students of BrSTU representing China, Azerbaijan, Nigeria, Venezuela, Vietnam, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Turkmenistan took part. The Rector of the University Sergei Antonovich Kasperovich addressed the participants of the festival with a welcoming speech.
The program turned out to be very rich and included various genres. A student from China, Liu Jiangbo, recited a poem about mother in Chinese, and a student from Azerbaijan, Farida Huseynova, presented poems in her native language to the audience.
The participants of the event heard groovy Arabic rap performed by Syrian student Outhman Oumari. Chinese A student from People’s Republic of China Liu Ruiqi sang a love song in Chinese. The rhythms of the Egyptian drum — darbuka — were performed by the student Joun Ehab. The audience were impressed by the student from China, Zhang Yuxuan, who sang a ballad in Russian to the accompaniment of the guitar “I would say a lot of good things to you!”. Chinese student Shang Ruixuan held an origami master class.
During the festival, students showed interesting presentations dedicated to their countries: Alzaidyeen Bashar — Jordan, Mohamed Amro — Egypt, Pham Chau Dong Trin presented Vietnam, Timothy Akinpelu — Nigeria, Monsalve Erika — Venezuela, Huseynova Farida and Nazanin — Azerbaijan, Jia Suwei — People’s Republic of China, Ataballyev Serdar — Turkmenistan.
At the end of the festival, those present were able to get immersed into the culture of each country thanks to the dishes of national cuisine, which were prepared by foreign and Belarusian students.
The program of the event included the awarding of honorary diplomas and souvenirs to the participants of the Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language, which was held the day before within the walls of our university. Third degree diplomas were awarded to Qin Chunbo, Feng Yanan; Li Chenxi, Li Jiacheng received the second degree diplomas, and Yan Mengda, Pham Chau Dong Trin, Liu Bo received the first degree diploma.
We hope that the festival will gain popularity and become a real hallmark of our university. Thanks to this event, we saw all the cultural diversity of the world around us and once again made sure how much we have in common!
