In continuation of the celebrations dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a festive concert «This Victory Day!» was held at the Brest State Technical University.
Rector of the University Sergey Antonovich Kasperovich congratulated all those present: “The victory of 1945 is our strength! This is what makes us remember history, think about the past, and also confidently leads us forward into our bright future.” In memory of our winners, Sergei Antonovich wished everyone to study calmly and peacefully, work, become qualified specialists, develop our Motherland and render every assistance to those whose profession is to defend the Motherland.
A prisoner of the concentration camp, Inessa Nikolayevna Kirilyuk, shared her memories of the horrors of the war she experienced and urged the younger generation to keep the peace and remember at what cost we got this Victory!
As part of the concert program, on-stage performance groups sang songs of the war years, presented dance compositions, literary performances, as if carrying over the audience to that terrible, but very significant time in history. Many could not hold back their tears.
In order to not let the works of the war years sinking into oblivion, the students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering organized a creative event «Poems and songs scorched by the war.» It is the sacred duty of every Belarusian to keep the memory of the heroic deeds of our ascendents. Wartime poems and songs sounded like living monuments to the great feat of a simple soldier who gave his life for peace of current generations.
On the eve of the Great Victory Day, the university library together with the Memorial Complex «Brest Hero Fortress» organized the exhibition «Eastern Fort. Chronicle of Courage”, dedicated to one of the last centers of organized resistance in the Brest Fortress.
