In the run-up to the end of the spring semester, Brest State Technical University hosted a traditional meeting of representatives of law enforcement authorities with foreign students studying at BrSTU.
Natalya Petrovna Yalovaya, Vice-Rector for Educational Work of the University, spoke at the opening of the event. In her speech, she thanked foreign students for choosing our university as a place to receive quality education, spoke about the new opportunities that BrSTU offers foreign citizens.
Vadim Vasilyevich Rovensky, Deputy Head of the Department for Citizenship and Migration of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, told foreign students about the changes in the Law of the Republic of Belarus «On external labor migration», which will come into force on July 1, 2023. The new version of the law provides people who receive university education with opportunities for legal employment in our country.
Dmitry Tadeushevich Lyganovsky, Head of the Department for Citizenship and Migration of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Administration of the Moskovsky District in Brest, reminded the students of the rules for the stay of foreign citizens in the Republic of Belarus, drew their attention to the need for timely registration in the departments for citizenship and migration.
Evgeny Mushta, Officer of the Department of Operational-Investigative Activities of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus, explained the particularities of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus on the State Border to the students, the need for careful attention to the border zone regime.
For the first time, a meeting of this kind was held with the participation of the media. The Rector of the university, Sergey Antonovich Kasperovich, in his interview to journalists, noted that more than 200 foreign students from Asia, Africa, and Latin America are currently studying at the university. BrSTU provides foreign citizens not only with the opportunity to receive quality higher education, but also provides decent living conditions and leisure activities. Media representatives were able to verify this personally during their visit to the campus of BrSTU.
At the end of the meeting, the Head of the International Department of BrSTU, Vitaly Anatolyevich Khaletsky, thanked the representatives of law enforcement authorities for the information provided and noted the effectiveness of such measures for the law violation prevention among foreign citizens.
