A forum of young voters, organized by the Ministry of Education and the Central Election Commission, opened in Minsk on February 1. Its participants were more than 100 students from institutions of secondary specialized and higher education, including students of Brest Technical State University: Varvara Vasilchuk, Eva Loskutova (Faculty of Civil Engineering); Gritsuk Angelina, Targonsky Evgeniy, Kulakevich Dmitry (Faculty of Economics); Yarmola Alexander (Faculty of Electronics and information Systems).
The purpose of the forum is to improve the legal awareness of first-time voters.
The ceremony was attended by First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Maxim Vladimirovich Ryzhenkov, Minister of Education Andrei Ivanovich Ivanets, Chairman of the Central Election Commission Igor Vasilyevich Karpenko.
As part of the forum, a meeting of students was held with the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Vladimir Andreichenko and deputies.
Forum participants learned what the powers and tasks of deputies and senators are, what qualities they should have, and how they pass the laws by which the country lives. During the meeting, the chairmen of the council shared with future voters information about the work of the Council of the Republic, legislative support for economic development, as well as the international situation in the implementation of a balanced social policy of the state.
The speakers noted that participation in the public life of young people allows them to see and understand what else can be done at the state level to improve their quality of life.
The first day of the forum will end with the youth show program “Belarus of the Future. Let’s choose together!”
