As part of the work aimed at adapting foreign students to life at Brest State Technical University, on October 24, a psychological training “I am a student of BrSTU” was held with the participation of foreign students — citizens of the People’s Republic of China.
The event was carried out by educational psychologists from the Department of Educational Work with Youth with the aim of achieving changes in the psychological and social spheres of life of foreign students, gaining well-being and satisfaction, aimed at creating conditions for students’ adaptation to studying at a university, promoting their personal growth and preventing social maladaptation, emotional unloading. In addition, the training was also useful because it allowed the students to immerse into an environment that is conducive to thinking about their life goals, aimed at preparing for the further educational process and new social and cultural conditions of life in our country.
During the training, the participants were asked to do certain exercises aimed at developing or demonstrating psychological qualities or skills that would make them feel more comfortable and confident. The key principle that ensures effective training and development is the constant combination in training of all forms of activity: communication, play, learning, work, the purpose of which is to develop competence in interpersonal and professional communication behavior.
During the training, students were able to open up, talk about themselves, their impressions of moving to Brest, and also share their impressions of the university. The friendly atmosphere and good mood of those present indicated a willingness to cooperate and that the task assigned to educational psychologists had been completed.
