On December 20, 2023, foreign students of the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Civil Engineering Faculty of Brest State Technical University took part in the student gathering “Let’s get to know each other!”, organized by teachers of the Department of Linguistic Disciplines and Intercultural Communications. Each student prepared speeches and presentations about their hometown, told about themselves and their families, and presented national costumes. The young people also cooked national dishes for the guests of the gathering, read poems, and sang songs.
Linguistic games and competitions “Draw your teacher with your eyes closed!”, “Guess and name the object in Russian”, “Connect two parts of a sentence” helped bring a friendly atmosphere and good mood.
The event went off without a hitch and ended with the final song “It’s great that we are all here today…”, which became an inspiring start to the students’ new journey.
Thanks to such events, foreign students gain experience in public speaking, feel more confident, and overcome the language barrier.
