On December 27, the traditional Republic-wide New Year’s Ball for youth was held at the Palace of Independence with the participation of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko.
The celebration brought together boys and girls from all over Belarus. These are gifted students of universities, colleges, cadets and students of the Suvorov Military School, who during their studies were able to clearly give an account of themselves in educational, scientific, creative and sports activities.
Six of the best BrSTU students took part in the event. Among them: Daria Yakubovskaya (Civil Engineering Faculty), Vasilevich Alexander (Faculty of Engineering Systems and Ecology), Sergel Veronica (Faculty of Economics), Yarmak Mikhail (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering), Serko Alexandra (Faculty of Electronics and Information Systems), Bekish Egor (Civil Engineering Faculty) .
The President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko traditionally addressed the participants of the ball with a welcoming speech and congratulations. The President expressed gratitude to parents and teachers, noted the professionalism, dedication and perseverance of the students in the past year, high results in studies, sports, and in the volunteer movement.
The celebration opened with a polonaise. The program continued with the irreplaceable and touching waltz, an incendiary and cheerful polka. The boys and girls demonstrated their skills in quadrille and mazurka, charming gallop and chaconne. At the end of the holiday, the young people performed “Midnight Quadrille”.
At the end of the evening, the participants of the celebration were presented memorable gifts from the Head of State.
Veronica Sergel shared her impressions: “I have been dreaming of attending this event for a couple of years now, and for me it became a goal towards which I moved and tried everything to achieve it. And having received the cherished news that I had been selected for the ball, joy knew no bounds.
Once at the Palace of Independence, expectations exceeded themselves. You find yourself in a real New Year’s fairy tale. Girls in beautiful dresses, men in suits and uniforms. And I felt like Cinderella, only the glass slippers were missing.)
I had a unique opportunity to watch the ball, being next to the President of the Republic of Belarus — Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko. I was overwhelmed with emotions, tears of joy and pride at being here now.
I would like to express special gratitude to my mother for raising me and teaching me to achieve my goals, to the university for the opportunity to be here and, of course, to our President, for such an unforgettable event, support and trust of young people. We will try not to let you down!”
