On September 28, at the Brest State Technical University, on the initiative of the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, an interdepartmental round table was held with the participation of foreign students of BrSTU. The event was attended by more than 50 new students from the People’s Republic of China, who first arrived in the Republic of Belarus in September 2023.
During the event, the legal aspects of the presence of foreign students on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, as well as some issues related to their adaptation, were discussed. The round table participants exchanged views, focusing on the importance of preventive work among foreign students.
Deputy Head of the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Vadim Vasilyevich Rovensky, emphasized in his speech that the students made the right choice by coming to study in Belarus. Our country provides foreign students with all opportunities for professional development on an equal basis with Belarusian citizens. Students were told in detail about the rules for the stay of foreign citizens in the Republic of Belarus, in particular, about the need for timely registration in regional offices for citizenship and migration, about the possibility of duty-free online registration on the Unified Portal of Electronic Services.
Representative of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus, Captain Daria Vladimirovna Drivilo, introduced students to the particularities of being in the frontier zone of the Republic of Belarus, drew attention to the inadmissibility of illegal border crossing and assistance in this, and also warned about the actions of criminals offering assistance in illegal crossing of the state border of our country against compensation.
Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Mikhail Vladimirovich Neroda paid special attention to the fact that the meeting of foreign students at the beginning of the academic year with representatives of law enforcement agencies has become a good tradition at the university.
Students also had the opportunity to get answers to their questions from competent representatives of law enforcement agencies.
