Life shines from the word

On October 26, 2023, a student reading conference “I knew everything: both joy and sorrow…” was held at the Brest State Technical University, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Ivanovich Grakhovsky, a famous Belarusian poet, prose writer, and publicist, critic, translator, honored cultural figure of Belarus, laureate of the State Prize of Belarus.
Welcome speech from Associate Professor of the Department of Linguistic Disciplines and Intercultural Communications Samuylik Yu.R. created an atmosphere of goodwill, trust and reflection on the life and creative path of Sergei Grakhovsky. As the speaker noted: “The writer’s life is great, tragic and beautiful, intertwined with the life and trials of the Motherland on the difficult, winding paths of our history. However, despite all the vicissitudes of fate, Sergei Gragovsky remained a Belarusian, a man and a poet…
Sergei Grakhovsky left his descendants a large number of works full of cordiality, wisdom and accuracy. Sergei Ivanovich tirelessly and decisively fought for an independent Belarus, for its native language. And as long as Belarus and the native word are alive, the name and poetry of Sergei Gragovsky will live.”
Belarusian students of 1-4 years of our university and their scientific advisors took part in the reading conference. A total of 18 reports were read, which covered the life and creative path of Sergei Gragovsky, the memories of the writer’s family, the image of his mother in the poet’s lyrics, the themes and problems of his work, civic duty and love for the people.
