Spirituality and enlightenment

As part of the interaction of educational institutions with the Belarusian Orthodox Church, on November 2, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Synodal Department of the Belarusian Orthodox Church for cooperation with secular educational institutions, Archpriest Fyodor Povny, with students, teachers and employees of the Brest Technical State University.
The guest was welcomed by Vice-Rector for Educational Work Natalya Petrovna Yalovaya, noting that this was not the first meeting of university students and employees with representatives of the clergy.
In his address to young people, Father Fyodor spoke about spirituality, quantum immortality, reason, the importance of the concepts of “conscience”, “humility” and “spirituality”, about asceticism as a way to fight sin and to cure sin.
During the meeting, Fyodor Povny once again voiced the idea that God and Faith contribute to the unification of people, a mood of benevolence and tolerance in society. He spoke about the commandments of God and the meaning of human life, about the value of human devotion and helping one’s neighbor.
It was also noted that today the church and the traditions that it relays have become more important than ever for our society.
In the second part of the conversation, the archpriest answered various questions that worried the students. In content, they related to the interaction of the Orthodox Church with youth and other faiths, the spiritual education of students, and the social activities. Students asked the clergyman about the sacraments of confession and baptism, and spiritual beauty.
