The results of the International History Olympiad “World Wars in the History of Mankind” have been summed up. The Olympiad took place on November 16, 2023 at the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Gomel from the Nazi invaders. A team of 1st to 4th year students of the Brest State Technical University demonstrated a high level of knowledge, team integration and took 2nd place.
The problem field of the Olympiad tasks included such aspects as the history of military operations on the fronts of the First and Second World Wars; history of the development of military equipment; analysis of documentary, visual and other sources, cartographic materials; biographies and memoirs of outstanding military leaders — participants in the First and Second World Wars; the city of Gomel and the Gomel region during the Great Patriotic War.
At the end of the event, the students were awarded a 2nd degree diploma and certificates for participating in the Olympiad.
The participation of students in this event contributed to patriotic education, updating the historical memory of young people, and introducing students to the study of the military historical past.
