On January 24-25, 2024, the Fifth Forum of the Association of Universities of Russia and Belarus is being held at the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The organizers of the Forum are the Russian Union of Rectors, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov and the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Belarus. The event is chaired by the President of the Russian Union of Rectors, Rector of Moscow State University, Academician V.A. Sadovnichy (from the Russian side) and Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Belarus, Rector of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics V.A. Bogush.
The Forum is attended by the Rector of the Brest State Technical University Sergei Antonovich Kasperovich, rectors, representatives of Russian and Belarusian universities and scientific institutions. During the meeting, participants discuss priority issues of bilateral cooperation in the educational, scientific, technical and humanitarian spheres, share with each other advanced experience and best practices.
State Secretary of the Union State D.F. Mezentsev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission M.V. Myasnikovich, Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States D.A. Trefilov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation M.Y. Galuzin, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation K.I. Mogilevsky addressed greetings to the participants of the Russian-Belarusian scientific and educational forum. Wishes for fruitful work to representatives of the rectors’ community of the two countries were also sent by the Chairman of the Committee on Science, Education and Culture of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation L.S. Gumerova and Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation S.V. Kabyshev.
First Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Gennadievich Bakhanovich, taking part in the Forum, conveyed greetings on behalf of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Ivanovich Ivanets to the participants of the scientific and educational event. Andrei Ivanovich noted that during the work of the association, a large number of joint events have been implemented that touch on issues of scientific, educational and patriotic education. “The key priority is the quality of training of highly qualified specialists. I am convinced that through joint efforts we will continue to contribute to the development of strategic interaction between Belarus and Russia, thereby meeting the interests of our friendly peoples,” emphasized the Minister of Education of our country.
Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Belarus, Rector of BSUIR V.A. Bogush, addressing the participants of the Russian-Belarusian Forum, especially noted the open nature of the Association of Universities of Russia and Belarus, which is not strictly tied to membership in it. “By default, all universities of the Republic of Belarus, all universities of the Russian Federation that take part in forums are members of the large family of our Association. At the same time, we are quite actively moving both in depth and in breadth of our cooperation… The coordination plan, the “road map” of cooperation between universities in Russia and Belarus is not a dogma, it is an open document that is constantly updated by our joint projects,” noted Vadim Anatolyevich.
Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission M.V. Myasnikovich, a graduate of the Brest Civil Engineering Institute (since 2000, Brest State Technical University), for his significant contribution to the development of educational, innovative, scientific and technical activities of the Brest State Technical University, was awarded the highest award of BrSTU — the medal “SIGN OF HONOUR” within the framework of the plenary session of the Forum.
