On February 20, an open dialogue “Destined to Serve the Fatherland” took place at the Brest State Technical University, dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.
The speakers of the event were retired Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Vladimirovich Pukhalsky, Deputy Chairman of the Brest regional organization of the Belarusian Union of War Veterans in Afghanistan and the widow of an officer, secretary of the Brest city organization of the Belarusian Union of Veterans of the War in Afghanistan Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Tychina.
Pukhalsky S.V. spoke in detail about the activities of the organization he supervised, focusing on the work on the patriotic education of youth, the importance of preserving historical memory and continuity of generations. He shared his memories of his combat journey in Afghanistan, photographs of his difficult period of service.
Speaking about the lessons of that war and the importance of the ongoing commemorative events for the education of young people, the speakers focused the students’ attention on the main common task — to preserve the greatest values — peace, order and independence of Belarus.
